PARENT ADVISORY COMMITTEES

In the spirit of the YMCA core values, the GCY Makos promote volunteerism. All Mako parents/guardians are asked to serve on one of six volunteer committees. Each committee will appoint a chairperson at the beginning of each season or year. The following are descriptions of the 6 GCY Parent Advisory Committees.

Fundraising/Corporate Sponsorship
This committee will oversee efforts to secure corporate sponsorship and will organize all other fund raising projects.

Meet Management
This committee will be responsible for planning and running all home meets. It will be responsible for assigning officials, addressing technical issues and maintenance on equipment, supplying awards/records, recruiting timers, etc.

Membership
This committee will create a team handbook explaining the swim team details, rates, practices, team structure, etc. This handbook will be supplied to all swim families. This committee will also oversee membership and registration procedures and will be responsible for integrating new members and families within the team.

Publicity
This committee will be responsible for all team publicity. One of the Publicity Committee’s major projects will revolve around establishing the team’s presence and creating the team’s CSA Tent at the Summer City Meet Championships. Additional responsibilities will include updating and releasing information for our web-site, distributing hotel and restaurant information to visiting teams who attend our home meets and publicity information at metro-YMCAs and other locations, as well as coordinating media relations.

Social
This committee will make arrangements for all social events. The Social Committee will also oversee concessions and hospitality at our home meets.

Travel
This committee will research, organize, and secure team travel arrangements, including hotel, restaurants, and any other necessary accommodations.
