WELCOME TO GCY!!!!!

GCY is a year-round program designed to accommodate anyone interested in a positive swimming experience, from a new age grouper to the highly motivated national level senior swimmer. We even offer a Masters swim program for adults. At GCY, we emphasize competition with oneself, and we maintain that sportsmanship is of equal importance to performance.

GCY is founded on the belief that a child’s involvement in competitive swimming offers an exciting opportunity and an invaluable experience in his or her life; one that will help shape athletes as both competitors and individuals. Our mission is to offer a multi-level competitive program that stresses individual and team improvement and achievement while teaching its swimmers to train and compete according to the YMCA core values. Whether an athlete joins GCY to improve physical conditioning, to prepare for high school or summer swimming, or to race at the national or collegiate level, GCY will provide the training and nurturing environment that allows each athlete to realize his or her goals. GCY swimmers will learn to cultivate such fundamental life skills as goal setting, teamwork, self-motivation, discipline, and commitment. Swimming is not an individual sport, and GCY Makos will be expected to value and respect their teammates, coaches and opponents. They will be encouraged to work together to help foster a positive training environment that is as enjoyable as it is productive. As a member of the GCY Makos a child will have the opportunity to develop a work ethic and healthy sense of competition that together can provide the backbone for success in the pool, the classroom, and beyond.
